Martin Perl describes the evening courses in physics which lead to his masters at Columbia, the graduate paper to which fellow Nobel Laureate Isidor Rabi added his name (9:35), and the fact that "most of one's research life has got to be spent doing mistakes" (14:47). He also explains his penchant for giving talks on subjects about which he would like to know more (19:35), his interest in dark matter (22:16) and gives advice regarding creativity (33:12).
